Born in Thailand, Kanita grew up surrounded by the vibrant colours of the gorgeous Thai silks which were produced in her parents' Thai silk factory in Bangkok. Kanita's mother was a very successful colourist and this early influence of colour and fabric has had a hugely important effect on Kanita's work.

Coming to Scotland initially to study English, Kanita found her way to Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen where she studied textile design.

Some highlights of her career are

Head Designer for Design Thai, part of the Rockefeller Group (Bangkok and U.S.A.)
Fabric Designer for The Old Bleach Linen Co., Belfast
Woven Fabric Designer for Higham Ltd., Lancashire
Interior Designer, based in Fortrose, Ross-shire

Now living in Aberdeen, Kanita's love of colour and her knowledge of fabric design can be seen in the pleasing compositions and subtle, often imaginative colourings of her painting, to which she has now turned full time. Kanita's paintings also demonstrate a diversity in styles which she attributes to the two major influences in her life - that of her Eastern heritage, which blends easily with her adopted Scottishness.
