Crovie is a fishing village on the north Banffshire coast at the bottom of a steep, single-track road. The village, most of which was built in the mid-18th century, comprises some 60 houses, many with their gable ends facing the sea and wooden shutters protecting the windows from crashing waves in winter gales. The village was almost destroyed by gales in 1953 but since then the homes have been restored, mostly for holiday use.
